The Phase Team

Phase is headed up by Andy Boakes and Paul Reeves, Directors of the company. Their role is maintaining good communications with our clients, ensuring that you receive a quality customer service. They are responsible for the overall welfare and safety of all employees. Unlike other large companies, Andy and Paul are very much ‘hands on’ and available to advise and support the team on the many different jobs that may arise. They oversee all major industrial and commercial installations and take particular pride in ensuring the best presentation and cleanliness of completed projects.

Andy Boakes – Director

Andy Boakes – Director

Andy has 30 years experience in the electrical services industry. He started as an apprentice for Durtnells, a well established company. At 20 years old he started to run large contracts for sports halls and offices. He moved on to sub-contract work and this experience led to him forming his own business. In 1989 he decided with business partner Paul Reeves that they could bring a more professional and efficient service to clients. They set up Phase and since then Andy has been responsible for overseeing all major industrial and commercial installations.

We have a dedicated team of highly qualified Senior Electricians. As well as a wealth of practical hands on experience, they have all gained higher AM2 qualifications as well as NVQ 2 and 3. All of our electricians have a minimum of NVQ 2 and 3. They have a very diverse range of skills, experience and expertise that ensures we can meet all the needs and requirements of our customers. Electrical Support Team

Phase employs a permanent Electrical Support Team who report into the Approved Electricians. Their role is to ensure the correct tools, equipment and fixings are available for each job or project. It’s an essential role within the team. They are also responsible for what is known as ‘1st fixing’ – creating the cable routes in walls, floors and ceilings and creating the back boxes for new sockets. By maintaining a permanent support team, we can ensure continuity of service and quality levels as well as providing cost effective labour for our clients.

Matt Redmore heads up our technical and design operations. Schematic drawings using the latest CAD utilities are used on all our installation projects. On completion of a project a full set of drawings is issued with the Operation & Maintenance manuals. These manuals, which Matt also puts together are an essential part of the handover of any major installation. Available as a hard copy or as a CD, weback up all the information relating to installations so in the event of a customer misplacing theirs, we can provide a replacement.

Christopher Payne – Health and Safety

Health and Safety

It is our duty as an employer to protect our workforce and keep them informed about health and safety law. This section of our company carries out our risk assessments and checks equipment and plant is serviced at required intervals. It also ensures that all employees have access to any personnel protective equipment (PPE) needed for specific jobs. Paul Reeves, Director is our dedicated Health & Safety Coordinator assisted by Christopher Payne. He liaises with independent advisers and our accreditation services to provide a programme which ensures we keep up to date with all legislation in order to protect us, our employees and our clients.

Certification

Certification is an important part of our work. It is a requirement of insurance companies that an installation certificate or test certificate is made available if an insurance claim is made. Phase is able to send electronic copies of any of our certificates directly to our customers via a modern certification program. We can record all test readings and data directly onto our PDA’s and upload them to our servers. This enables us to provide our customers with certificates in a quick and efficient manner after a test has been completed. Email: certification@phase-electrical-services.com

Apprentices

In the industry we operate in a high level of training is required, both theoretical and practical. Phase runs an apprentice scheme for new CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) apprentices. This helps us to forward plan staff levels and balance the effects of natural loss such as retirement. Our apprentices undertake a three year course, attending college once a week as well as shadowing the Electricians to learn the practical skills needed to pass their NVQ’s. What is learnt in the classroom is put into practice in the work environment, mentored by an electrician. We are proud of the fact that many of our apprentices have progressed to qualified Electricians and Approved Electricians with Phase.
